Chapter Eight

The Brothers went back to the hospital to see how their sister was doing. The doctor met them on their way to her room. “Mr. Simon, Mr. Simon I take it both of you are here to see your sister?’ He asked.

“Yes we are is she alright?” A.J. asked.

“Yes she is now she had a rough morning another seizure I sorry but she’s doing fine now. We gave her another shot of the antidote and we’re starting to cut her down on it. I think that’s what’s giving her the seizures. Her body wants no needs more and it’s coming out in seizures which isn’t abnormal but we do need to still keep a very close eye on her.” He told them.

 “Can we see her?” Rick asked.

“Well like I told you before it might be hard for you if she slips into one…” he was cut off by A.J.

“We can handle it doctor we have too.” He agreed and let the brothers in and she seemed to be watching T.V.

“Hey there beautiful how are you doing?” A.J. asked. Something seemed familiar to her when A.J. called her beautiful. She looked at him strangely and just seemed to stare at him.

“Is there something wrong Sweetie?” Rick asked.

“Do you always call me those names?” she asked them. They looked at each other confused.

“What names Sweetie?” Rick asked.

“That. Sweetie and Beautiful. Do you always call me that?” she asked again.

“Yeah we do when you’re down or upset we do why?” A.J. asked.

“I don’t know it just seemed…familiar that’s all. I didn’t know if you called me that or Michael. Do you know where he is? I haven’t seen him since oh I think the other day?” she told them.

“Sweetie has he come here often?” Rick asked.

“Why?” she asked them.

“We just want to thank him for saving you that’s all.” A.J. said lying through his teeth.

“I didn’t think you liked Michael.” She said.

“No we’re thankful to him that you’re here safe and sound. We just want to say Thank You is there something wrong with that?” A.J. asked.

“No I guess not I just haven’t seen him in a while.”  She told them.

“So he has been coming here then to see you.” A.J. asked her again.

“When he can, but it’s hard with that police officer at the door he said because there’s a nut out there trying to hurt us.” She told them. Just then a Late Breaking News Report came on that took their attention away from questioning her to the television. It was a report on a local bar called Danny’s and the owner was out in the front talking to reporters on his waitress he found dead when he got in at five thirty to open the bar.

“Shit, you’ve got to be kidding me.” A.J. said stunned.

“He must have saw us come out of the bar when we left. Look I’ll call the Captain and find out how she died and you go see Jon and let him know what happened.” Rick said.

“Sounds good but I’m talking to the officer again just in case.” A.J. said.

“Hey what’s going on you leaving already?” she asked.

 “Yeah Sweetheart something just came up that we have to take care of. Are you going to be alright?” A.J. asked. She shook her head yes. “Okay we’ll see you as soon as we can. We love you.” A.J. said and gave her a kiss on her forehead and Rick did the same. All she could do was smile.

A.J. went to the hotel and was hoping he would catch Jon there. Luckily when he knocked on the door Jon answered. “Hey A.J. what’s up?” Jon asked standing there in a tee and jeans with a drink in his hand.

“Can I come in?” A.J. asked sarcastically. 

“Yeah come on in.” Jon said walking over to the chair and plopping into it. A.J. just rolled his eyes. He really was trying to understand where he was coming from but Jon was starting to get on his nerves now.

“I thought I’d come over and tell you what’s going on in the case. Do you want to know or what?” A.J. asked a bit perturbed.

Jon just looked at him irritated “Well what the hell do you think A.J. I’ve been cooped up in here not able to go out and I can’t see Mary so you tell me seeing that you and Rick are my only news at what’s going on right now.” He said back angrily.

“Look Jon we’re just thinking about your safety right now. Don’t you guys watch the news?” A.J asked him.

Jon just looked at him like he had two heads. “What? Yeah we do, why? We just got back from a stupid launch party so I haven’t had time to put the T.V on what’s going on?” Jon asked nervously. A.J. explained to Jon how they went to the bar to see Jasmine and how they found out that she was his cousin. Also how she was scared of him and how he told her to put the drug into his glass that night. Jon was getting livid. But when they went to the hospital to see Mary as they were talking something had caught their eye as a bulletin came on and they were at the bar where a murder had occurred.

Jon looked at him now really concerned. Apparently the bar was at Danny’s where Rick and him were just at a few hours ago and they had found one of the waitresses dead. “Oh God don’t tell me it was Jasmine?” Jon asked nervously.

“Yeah it was, we think Michael saw us leaving the bar then went in there and confronted her about our visit. Rick went to the police station to find out more details and he’ll give us a call when he finds out.” A.J. told him.

 Jon didn’t know what to say really. “My God A.J to kill his own cousin how sick is that?” Jon asked.

 “I know that’s what we keep telling you. He’ll do anything so you need to keep a low profile at least as much as possible. Just do what you normally would do like interviews, sound checks, concerts but nothing one on one that would leave you alone with anyone. He’s out for blood now and maybe just maybe if you stay away from Mary he just might forget about you and concentrate more on Rick and I.” A.J. said.

“And that’s a good thing?’ Jon asked.

“For you it is.” A.J. said in return.

“Look A.J. I would love to do that but she’s my girl and I love her. What kind of man would I be if I just abandoned her just like that?” Jon asked.

 “Alive. Jon I understand where you’re coming from really I do but Mary doesn’t want you to end up dead.” A.J. told him.

“I don’t want to end up dead either but A.J. I’m not leaving her either. Look I’ll do everything you guys suggested but I’m not leaving her got it. And I’ll wait for her to regain her memory if I have to. You said the doctor said she should get it back sometime when the trauma starts to calm down right?” Jon asked.

“Yeah when it does Jon but we don’t know the answer to that.” A.J. started to explain to him when the phone rang.

Jon went to pick it up. “Hello? Oh Hi Rick yeah he’s right here just a sec.” Jon said handing the phone over to A.J.

“Thanks. Rick? Yeah what did you find out?” A.J. put the phone on speaker so Jon could also hear.

 “Well it was Jasmine that they found. The Son-of-a-Bitch strangled her with a phone cord after he beat her up real nice guy. I’m going back to her house to see what I can find see if he left anything behind.” Rick said.

“Rick I don’t think you should go there alone.” A.J. said.

“You’re sounding like Mom now A.J. I’ll be fine unless I find that Bastard then worry about him. I’ll call you when I’m done I’ll talk to you guys later.” And he hung up.

A.J. was furious at his brother; he knew Rick took unnecessary chances. “I don’t believe him, what am I saying of course I believe him he does these assignee things all the time. He knows he should take backup for crying out loud.” A.J. fumed. Looking at Jon “I need to go I’ll call you later and let you know what’s happening after I kill Rick myself.” A.J. said.

“Where are you going to Jasmine’s house?” Jon asked.

“Like I said I’ll call you later, stay out of trouble.” A.J. said as he left Jon’s room. About fifteen minutes later a loud knocking came on Jon’s door

“Hey what’s…” Jon was about to ask but Richie pushed his way in.

“Have you seen the news?” he asked.

 “No but if you’re about to tell me that Jasmine from the bar was found dead don’t the Simon’s beat you to it.” Jon said.

“Really well when the hell were you going to me?” Richie asked pissed.

“I was going too but it was getting late. I thought I’d let you know tomorrow.” Jon told him.

“Kidd! Don’t you think this is a little more important to wait til morning. She tried to drug you for crying out loud.” Richie said upset. Jon just looked at him and started to explain what the brothers told him. There was nothing he or any of them could do about it. In fact there was nothing he could do about anything which pissed him off. But he knew what Michael could do and he wasn’t about to let him hurt Mary and if staying away helped that then he would.

A.J. arrived at Jasmine’s just about the same time Rick arrived. “A.J. what the hell are you doing here?” he asked his brother.

 “You really think I was going to let you come here without backup then you’re crazy.” A.J. told him.

Rick just shook his head and chuckled. “Okay Mom let’s go inside.” Rick said as he patted A.J. on the back.  They entered the house and it was pitch black. They found the light switch and started to search the house. They found Michael’s room but all they found in there was the costumes he was wearing or clothes as most people would wear. They also found pictures of Mary and him from the past and pictures of her and Jon with Jon’s face or body scratched out in red marker.

“Well this was a bust. Why don’t we just stake this place out and see if he comes back.” A.J. suggested.

“We could but I don’t think he would knowing that we would find out that they are related. But why not it couldn’t hurt.” Rick said. As they were leaving the house a man was approaching them when he recognized the brothers and turned and ran. The brothers took off after him. They ran for about a mile when Michael ducked into a side street and it led to a little park with woods behind it which the brothers seem to lose him in.

 “I don’t fucking believe it! We were this close and we lost him!” Rick yelled.

 “Look Rick he knows this area better than we do so don’t beat yourself up about it.” A.J. said.

“I know I know but still A.J. we could have had him.” Rick said despondent. After they kicked themselves enough they went back to their hotel rooms to try and get some sleep. By morning they decided to go to the hospital and check things out there just in case Michael decided to go back there and try anything. They had their intern outfits on and checked in with security so they knew they were there looking around. Mary was asleep in her room and as she was waking up and started looking around when the nurse came in to check on her and take her vitals. “Hi Dear I see your awake I just need to check your vitals.” She told Mary.

“Fine but can I ask you something?” Mary asked the nurse.

“Sure Dear what is it?” he asked her.

 “Why am here? I am in a hospital right?” Mary asked.

“Why yes you are, are you forgetting again?” the nurse asked her.

 Mary looked at her like she had two heads. “What do you mean am I forgetting again? Why am I in here? Is it because of what happen?” she asked.

“Yes, I’ll get the doctor for you alright?” she said.

“Fine but could you also call my brothers? Rick and A.J. Simon please, I’m sure they must have left a forwarding number or my boyfriend Jon Bon Jovi.” She told the nurse.

“What did you say Dear? Do you remember who you are?” she asked.

“Yes?” she told the nurse.

“What’s your name?” the nurse asked.

“Mary Simon why?” she told her confused.

 “Just a moment.” And the nurse went out to call the doctor and tell him that she remembers who she is.

The doctor came down as fast as he could to take a look at her and Mary was a little confused at first until he explained what happened. She asked him to call her brothers and he explained that they were somewhere in the hospital and that he would get word to them as soon as possible. Meanwhile Michael was also in the hospital and had spotted the Simons and knew he needed to get Mary out of there fast if he wanted to have a life with her. So he had a plan to get her out and needed a distraction. When Rick and A.J. heard that Mary had regained her memory they hightailed it to her room. “Sweetie you’re back?” A.J. asked.

 “Well as long as I know I never left but I guess I did huh?” she said.

 “Yeah you sure did Sweetie and boy are we glad your back did you scare us.” A.J. said kissing her on her forehead.

Rick stepped up and did the same. “Don’t you ever do that again?” Rick said with a playful grin.

“I’ll try not to. How’s Jon? Please tell me he’s okay.” She asked.

 “Well he’s a pain in the ass.” Rick said.

“Rick! He’s fine Sweetie he’s just upset about Michael and you being in here. The doctor wouldn’t let us at first in here then we wouldn’t let him in because of you coming off of the drugs Michael put in you on. You were having seizures and we didn’t want Jon to see you like that.” A.J. explained. She understood and asked them to call him and let him know that she was back.

A.J. went to the nurses’ station so he could make the call seeing the doctor came back in to check her out seeing now that her brothers were here and now she would let him. He waited as it rang and on the fifth ring and Jon finally picked up. “Hello?” Jon said very tiredly.

 “Jon it’s A.J. I have some very Great news.” He said happily.

 “Yeah what?” Jon said like he didn’t care.

“She’s remembers Jon. She remembers everything including you.” A.J. told him strongly. Jon thought he was hearing things. He just stood there almost not breathing. “Jon are you there! Jon!” A.J. spoke loudly into the phone.

“You’re not teasing me A.J. are you?” Jon asked trying hard not to get too excited.

A.J. chuckled softly to himself. “No Jon I’m not teasing you. She remembers everything, and she’s asking for you.” he told him.

“Are you sure she’s asking for me? I don’t want to freak her out if she’s not.” He said trying not to believe A.J. is just saying this.

 “No Jon she really is asking for you. I’d put her on the phone but I’m calling from the nurses’ station because the doctor is in with her right now checking her over. So get over here she’s waiting.” A.J. said happily.

“Okay tell her not to go anywhere okay. I’ll be right there. Oh and tell I Love her okay?” Jon asked excitedly .

“Yeah right I’ll see you when you get here bye.” A.J. had to laugh at Jon and how he reacted.

He got back to Mary’s room and told her of his conversation with Jon and she laughed. The doctor told them that he wanted to keep her for at least another day or two just to monitor her to make sure she doesn’t have any more side effects or seizers. They agreed and the doctor left and her brothers sat with her and decided to get her caught up on what was happening with Michael.

 Meanwhile as Jon had got off the phone with A.J. he was just in shock. It took him a minute for it to sink in then he let out this howl of excitement. He started to go through his clothes to make sure he picked out some clean ones because he wanted to look good for her. As he was dressing he heard a banging on his hotel door and Richie screaming for him to open it. “JON! JON! Open Up Will YA! Come On Open Up!” Richie yelled as he kept banging. Jon ran to open the door.

“What the hell Rich!” Jon yelled back. Richie pushed his way into the room.

“What’s the matter? Why did you yell like that? Is everything okay?” Richie asked concerned.

 Jon standing there like a loon, smiling from ear to ear grabbed Richie by the shoulders and answered “Rich everything couldn’t be better! She remembers Rich she remembers!” he said laughing as he turned around to finish dressing.

“Hey wait a minute, who told you she remembers Jon.” Richie asked skeptical. In Jon’s bedroom Jon gave Richie a don’t worry face.

 “Richie it’s okay I just talked to A.J. Simon on the phone and he told me. He also told me she’s asking for me for ME! I’ve got my girl back Rich.” He said nearly jumping out of his skin.

Patting Jon on the back “That’s great Kidd; I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t Michael who called you that’s all.” Richie said concerned.

Jon looked at him understandingly. “I know Rich but it wasn’t I know A.J.’s voice. Oh crap I need to call a car.” Jon said.

 “Look I’ll call for the car while you get ready and if you don’t mind some company?” Richie asked.

“No that would great Rich, it’s funny but I’m kind of nervous to see her.” Jon told him.

“Well the last time you did see her she didn’t know you, and you had it in your head that she wouldn’t come out of this. I told you she was stronger than you thought.” Rich told him.

Jon sat on the edge of his bed. “I let her down Rich.” He said running his hands through his hair.

 Richie walked over to his friend and brother and sat next to him and put his arm his shoulder. “Jon she loves you more than anything and she’ll understand. Just be there for her now that‘s all that matters now. Now I’ll go make that call and you finish up and we’ll head out okay.” Jon felt better and couldn’t wait to get to the hospital.
